Carne asada is a popular Mexican dish consisting of marinated and grilled beef, typically flank or skirt steak. The meat is usually seasoned with a mixture of lime juice, garlic, cilantro, and various spices, then grilled to perfection, giving it a smoky and charred flavor. It’s often served sliced thin and accompanied by sides like tortillas, guacamole, salsa, and grilled vegetables. Carne asada can be enjoyed on its own or used as a filling for tacos, burritos, and other Mexican dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch cilantro

  • 1/3 cup olive oil

  • 1/4 cup educed sodium soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 1 each freshly squeezed lime juice

  • 2 tbsp tequila 

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 each jalapeno, seeded and diced

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp coriander 

  • 1 package sazon

  • 1 rsp season salt (lawy’s)

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper 

  • 1 – 2 lb skirt steak or flank steak

Directions

  • Put all of the ingredients in a food processor or blender and puree.
  • Trim the fat off the steak and portion into 6 to 8-oz portions.
  • Marinate the steak for 4 hours then grill to the preferred temp. or frown on in a saute pan then cook at 425 degrees until the correct doneness
  • Serve with pico de gallo or chimichurri sauce and yellow rice and beans.
